Team Tasks and the Team Assignment Pool

Late last year Microsoft rolled out a new feature for Team Tasks for Project Online customers. I happened to stumble upon it when assisting a PPM Works customer with configuring team tasks. Our customer has an on premise Project Server 2013 solution deployed. After creating the look up table, associating it with the default Team Name field, creating the generic resources, and updating the resources with the correct teams, we were ready to begin.

They were disappointed to learn that once a Team Member selects the task it is not longer available for other Team Members. I had noticed in our sandbox environment that this behavior had changed recently. I found a new checkbox on the Time and Task Settings page in Server Settings.

Multiple team members! When this box is checked the task assigned to the team is still available for other team members to add to add to their timesheet or Tasks page. Awesome! Unfortunately it has not been included in the updates to Project Server 2013 customers. Keeping my fingers crossed.
