You may have noticed the Document Information Panel is Missing in Office 2016.  The Document Information Panel was a helpful feature for maintaining SharePoint document columns.

Although the Document Information Panel feature has been depreciated in Office 2016, fortunately you can still access SharePoint document columns from within Office 2016.
