Project Server Queue Errors

Project Server Consulting – Project Server 2013 – Project Server Support – Project Server Queue

Folks,

Here are a few Project Server Queue Errors related to Generic Resources on Templates that either are local and duplicates or have a Default Assignment Owner value and they should not.  We hope you find this helpful.  Let us know your thoughts.  This is how PPM Works…

Sample Error #1:
Job State:  Failed And Blocking Correlation
Error:  rsResourceCannotAddLocalWithSameNameAsEnterprise (2058) – column RES_UID

error details

Resolution:  Make sure that your project and your project template do not have local and enterprise resources with the same name.  This particular issue had local resources in a Project Template with the same name as an Enterprise Generic Resource.

The Why:  This scenario occurs when a user tries to create a project based on a template that has a local resource with the same name as an Enterprise Work Resource.  Be careful when creating Enterprise templates and use the best practice steps while Building the Team.  Note you should not have Local Resources in Enterprise Templates.

Sample Error #2:

Job State:   Failed And Blocking Correlation
Error:  AssignmentInvalidOwner (139) – column RES_UID_OWNER

Resolution:  Confirm that all Generic Resources do not have a Default Assignment Owner and/or Timesheet Manager.  If they have either a Default Assignment Owner or Timesheet Manager – try opening and deleting these values and then save the generic resource.  If you can not change the values for the Default Assignment Owner and/or the Timesheet Manager then you will need to delete the resource and recreate it.  I recommend that you go into the Template and Copy the Resource Names Column into a Text Column and then delete the resource from the template and the Enterprise.  Make sure when creating the generic resource to mark it as generic BEFORE you save the resource.

The Why:  This scenario occurs when a user tries to create a project based on a template that has an Enterprise Work Resource(s) with a value for either the Default Assignment Owner or the Timesheet Manager.  This scenario make occur if a resource is created first as non-generic and then set to Generic.  This could have happened accidentally.  Be careful when creating generic resources using the Global Enterprise Template.  Make Sure to set the resource as generic BEFORE you hit save.  Do this for all generic resources that you are created PRIOR to saving.
