Project Online Issue: Project Owner Changes On Its Own

A recent issue we have seen several users experience (ourselves included!) is a Project Owner changing without anyone actually changing it. For environments where project ownership influence project permission, this is no laughing matter. Luckily, we’ve determined the root cause: the user who is inadvertently taking over project ownership needs to clear their project cache.

To do this, go into Project Professional to determine the location of your cache. Here’s how:

From Project, go to File > Options > Save, and copy the path to your cache.

Next, close out of Project Professional completely, and navigate to the folder path you just copied.  Within that folder, delete all subfolders to clear the cache.

Doing this for the “project thief” will resolve the issue!
