  IRON TONY 2015:

World Record Indoor Triathlon Event

Saturday, Sept. 12 from 7:00AM-3:00PM

In 2014, Tony Rich attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to complete an Ironman triathlon indoors: A 2.4 mile swim in the pool, 112 mile indoor bike ride, and a 26.2 treadmill marathon without stopping.

The world record was 8 hours flat. Tony came close, and completed it in 8:17:25. Thus the record still stands.

On Saturday, September 12th, Tony will be back at our Y to make a 3rd attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time for a male to complete an indoor Ironman.  We invite our YMCA families and members of our community to join us throughout the day in cheering on Tony as he attempts to break the World Record.

COMPETING FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Tony’s goal on September 12th is not only to set a new world record but to use his effort as a chance to raise awareness of the financial assistance program offered at our YMCA.

In 2015, our YMCA will provide over $350,000 of scholarship so that members of our community, no matter their income, age, faith, ability, or culture can participate in the life-changing programs at our YMCA including childcare, aquatics lessons, youth sports, and fitness programs.

Tony’s goal is to raise $5,000 to support our 2015 Annual Fund community scholarship program. To make a donation to our Annual Fund in honor of Tony’s attempt CLICK HERE.
