Why You Need a Microsoft Partner of Record
When you purchase Microsoft Online Services like Office 365, you can select a certified Microsoft Partner to be “tied” or “connected” to your account – in Microsoft terminology this is called a Partner of Record (POR).
Assigning a Partner of Record to your Microsoft Online Services has absolutely no impact on your monthly subscription cost – it costs you nothing. It also has no impact on the support or services you receive from Microsoft. Additionally, it does not provide a partner access to your data.
Selecting the right POR can help reduce TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and make your transition to the cloud a much smoother process. Your Microsoft Partner can provide you with expertise to take advantage of all the cloud has to offer, opening a wide array of new opportunities for you to grow your business and your revenue.
Your POR can help you answer questions such as:
- What licensing and purchasing mechanism provides the greatest opportunity for increased ROI while reducing our TCO?
- What are our deployment options?
- How do we move from our current infrastructure over to the cloud and what is the overall impact and associated cost savings?
- Your Partner of Record should provide tangible value to your organization, which at the end of the day means saving you money and helping your business become more agile, robust and efficient. The truth of the matter is that when you choose a Microsoft Partner of Record, it’s a win-win situation for both parties. The POR is able to further develop with each new partner, developing valuable content and tools available for you to use, and the organization get a smoother and more enjoyable experience at no extra cost. What’s not to like about that? Thanks those that contributed to the explanation above.-Jacques
