Reinstalling Workflow Manager 1.0

We had working Workflow Manager farm in Project Server 2013 environment which stopped working after refreshing the PWA environment using database attach method. We resolved the issue by Reinstalling Workflow Manager 1.0 in Project Server 2013 Farm.

We were getting below error while creating new Projects.

Error:

General

  • Error:
    • WorkflowCannotStartWorkflow (35100). Details: id=’35100′ name=’WorkflowCannotStartWorkflow’ uid=’2638469d-653c-e611-811d-0050569a688c’.
  • Queue:
    • GeneralQueueJobFailed (26000) – WorkflowStartWorkflow.WorkflowStartWorkflowMessage. Details: id=’26000′ name=’GeneralQueueJobFailed’ uid=’2738469d-653c-e611-811d-0050569a688c’ JobUID=’0428d69c-653c-e611-811d-0050569a688c’ ComputerName=’44493b58-ff91-4783-b43b-6a04dd079a84′ GroupType=’WorkflowStartWorkflow’ MessageType=’WorkflowStartWorkflowMessage’ MessageId=’1′ Stage=” CorrelationUID=’55418a9d-3a72-102c-79a8-45b26251b429′. For more details, check the ULS logs on machine 44493b58-ff91-4783-b43b-6a04dd079a84 for entries with JobUID 0428d69c-653c-e611-811d-0050569a688c.

We tried different troubleshooting steps but none of it helped to resolve the issue. Finally issue resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling Workflow Manager 1.0 Below are the detailed steps.

Uninstall Workflow Manager

Step1 : Leave the Farm

      1. Log on to the server on which you have installed and configured workflow Manager.
      2. Launch Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard
      3. When the Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard page appears, click Leave Farm. The Leave Farm page appears
      4. Click on Apply.

Step2: Uninstall Workflow Manger and other Application

      1. In the Control Panel window, under Programs select Uninstall a Program.
      2. Find the following items in the program list and, for each item, click Uninstall on the menu bar above the program list.
      • Workflow Manager 1.0
      • Workflow Manager 1.0 Client
      • Service Bus 1.0
      • Windows Fabric

Step3: Delete Workflow related Databases.

    1. Take Backup of any workflow related databases.
    2. Use SQL Management Studio to remove the databases that were associated with Workflow Manager. These databases are:
      1. WfManagementDB
      2. SbGatewayDatabase
      3. SBContainer01
      4. WFInstanceManagementDB
      5. WFResourceManagementDB
      6. SBManagementDB

Install and Configure Workflow Manager

Step 4: Install Workflow Manager 1.0

Click the contextual installation link. This will initiate the installation steps for Workflow Manager

Step 5: Configure Workflow Manager

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. In All Programs, go to Workflow Manager 1.0. Click the Workflow Configuration shortcut to start Workflow Configuration Wizard
  3. Click on “Configure Workflow Manager with Default Settings”

Steps 6: Register the workflow Manager service

Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite ‘https://myhost/mysite’ -WorkflowHostUri ‘http://workflowhost:12991′ –force
