Status Manager Field Preventing RBS From Hiding Projects From Users

PPM Works recently implemented RBS (Resource Breakdown Structure) for a client to hide projects from users in certain security groups by editing the categories associated with the groups. It was working perfectly fine until the Project Owner was changed. If the original Owner has an RBS value higher than the new Project Manager, users with the same RBS as the new Owner will not be able to see the projects. The reverse is also true. If the new Project Owner has an RBS value higher than the new Owner, the users will be able to see the project. The status manager for all tasks must be changed in order for the RBS settings to work.

Steps to fix:

  1. Change the Project Owner in PWA and publish the project
  2. Close and check in the project
  3. Have the new Owner open the project in Project Pro and add a task
  4. Insert the Status Manager field in a view and fill down or up so the Status Manager matches the new Owner of the project
  5. Publish the project again

Note: Delegation can be used if the new Owner is not available.

  1. Open the project in the web while in a delegation session
  2. Add a new task and publish the project
  3. Close and check in the project
  4. End the delegation session and open the project in Project Pro
  5. Locate the new task and fill up or down to change the status manager field to the new Owner
  6. Publish the project
